The countdown to a new school year is on, and District 186 is excited to welcome students, families, staff, and community members to the 2nd Annual Community Back-to-School Event on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
The Community Back-to-School Event serves as a one-stop destination for families preparing for the upcoming school year while strengthening connections between schools, families, and the community.

Black Hawk Family Science Night TONIGHT from 5:30 - 7:00. Families can participate in a variety of hands-on science activities. Bring the family to make SLIME, see dinosaur bones, create a racetrack, build marshmallow towers, learn about Crime Science investigations, play STEM games, and much more.

Please do not deliver or have delivered individualized Valentine's Gifts for your child(ren) i.e. Flowers, Stuffed Animals (of any size), Balloons/Balloon Bouquets, Candy boxes, etc.
These are lovely things to give your child(ren) at home. We do not have the place for these items and the often become a distraction and sometimes items are misplaced or lost and it becomes an unnecessary school issue. Please save this wonderful gifts for the evening/weekend. Thank you for your cooperation.
Items for classroom parties are still welcome to be dropped off

School will be in session tomorrow. Remember to dress warm! Coats, gloves, hats, etc! Also, remember to charge up iPads so they are ready to be used for instruction while students are at school tomorrow as well.
